Cult label Dr. Martens opens store in Hamburg
The British shoe brand Dr. Martens is moving into a new store at Mönckebergstraße 19 in Hamburg in the summer of 2021. Lührmann advised on the lease and acted as intermediary.
Dr. Martens continues to expand in Germany: in the last three years, the iconic brand with a long tradition has opened a total of nine flagship stores in Berlin, Dortmund, Leipzig, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Bonn and Frankfurt. Lührmann had only recently brought Dr. Martens to Hanover. All stores are located in highly frequented, prime city centre locations. The aim of this strategy is to strengthen brand recognition and customer proximity in Germany, the company said, and Germany is one of the world's most interesting markets for shoes and clothing.
Hamburg has so far been missing from the cult label's portfolio. ‘We are very pleased to have been able to support Dr. Martens in its search for an attractive store in a striking corner location on Mönckebergstraße’, explains Judith Weiß of Lührmann Osnabrück. The arrangement shows that even in difficult times, successful completions are possible. ‘At Lührmann, we have excellent networks thanks to many years of experience and manage to bring the right partners together’.
Dr. Martens is moving into the former Vodafone/O2 store at Mönckebergstraße 19 in Hamburg. The British brand will present shoes for women, men and children as well as accessories on 200 square metres of ground-floor retail space. The owners were represented by a subsidiary of Miehlmann.Hertz, Hamburg. ‘Not only for the owners but also for Hamburg’s city centre, the lease to Dr. Martens is a very positive sign showing that Mönckebergstrasse remains a top retail location even in difficult times’, emphasises Michael Böttcher, Managing Partner of Miehlmann.Hertz.
