Søstrene Grene opens its world’s largest store in Berlin
Danish lifestyle chain Søstrene Grene is opening a new store at Schloßstrasse 30 in Berlin’s Steglitz district in April 2022. The previous tenants at the location were Tivola Shoes and, for a transitional period, an outlet store. Lührmann advised on the lease and acted as intermediary.
The new Søstrene-Grene store on Berlin's second largest shopping street has almost 750 square metres of retail space on two levels. There, Søstrene Grene (translated: the Grene sisters) will in future present its wide range of home accessories, kitchen items, DIY supplies, party goods, school and office supplies and toys. With its store concept ‘Retail for the Senses’, the new branch provides customers with a whole new shopping experience, which Søstrene Grene itself describes as follows: ‘The new concept offers the unmistakable Søstrene Grene feeling for all the senses – a feeling of joy, relaxation, ‘hygge’ (coziness), enchantment and constant change’.
‘We are very pleased to have gained Søstrene Grene as a very desirable new tenant for the store at Schloßstraße 30’, explains Christoph Schulz of Lührmann Berlin. The new store in a striking corner location is by far the largest Søstrene Grene store worldwide.
In recent years, the Danish lifestyle brand Søstrene Grene, founded in 1973 in Aarhus, has firmly established itself in Germany: there are now more than 50 stores across the country, making Germany Søstrene Grene’s second-largest market outside Denmark. In 2022, the company plans to open more; by the middle of the year, Søstrene Grene aims to have a total of 60 stores in Germany.
With over 240 stores in 15 countries, Søstrene Grene has become a household name throughout Europe. The stores are extremely popular with customers – thanks to their charming winding aisles and their range of Scandinavian design.
